Hey SuSu!
I have been talking with a lady who goes to the same Curves place I do.
She grew up in West Gulfport and still has an old family home that she
and her sister planned to use as a retirement home in a few years. Her
house survived and has been put back on the foundation. They still
don't have any power though. Just yesterday she was telling me that
they are still finding bodies in the Longbeach area as reported from a
friend of hers who had a house there. They don't put any of this on the
news around here. She also said the big mall was pretty much wiped out
and people had to go to Mobile to do any sort of real Christmas
shopping. She said there is talk of leveling and rebuilding downtown
Gulfport. Sounded like she had been to a town meeting or something as
she was calling the mayor a jerk.
I have a friend who is getting married out of state in June and will be
spending most of my mad money for the year on that adventure. I am not
sure I will be able to handle both expenses in the same few months. Let
me know what the consensus is.
How is your area doing? It got ripped up pretty good too, didn't it?
Take care,
Vickie

Susan, I'll attempt to "pass this along" to Gary Kowrach, my (former) neighbor; though he does not have email at this time, I do have his telephone number. His wife and two children are living in Enterprise, AL, home of Jill's mother. Gary treks to Gulfport from Enterprise --- weekly, I think --- to work as a contractor/carpenter on the MS Gulf Coast.
Marc

Susan,
I honestly don't know what would be best. I think it is a good idea to check with people out of town. Things are so overwhelming right now, I'd say postpone a year. Then again, September is months away.
Things have been rather stressful as I'm trying to recreate and find things with which to teach. Although we got telephones and a copy machine two days before the Christmas holidays, we are waiting for computers, intercom, bathroom connections, etc.
The couple who lived with me have purchaed a home and moved. We are blessed that College Park did so well.
Thanks for the update,
Peggy

Chuck Wright here. You got to have the Reunion!!! I will not be able to make,
since I have been deployed to Kuwait. But, The show must go on. We partied
after Camille, we can party after Katrina.
Tell everyone hello. I'm going to miss a great time.

SuSu,
I would love to see you and Dixie and our friends. What about a "bring your own food" picnic at the community center? It would be inexpensive and a chance to be together. Hope all is well!

Wishing Chuck and his wife, Joanne, will come home well. Denise's idea is good. Probably the easiest way to make the picnic happen. My plans are locked, I'll be there.
Does anyone know how to locate DebbieDean,As I owe Her an appology.P
Hey Paul,
Debbie Stephens (Dean) here. Reading old blogs and can't imagine what you owe me an apology for. Still trying to make it for the 2008 reunion. Living in Tampa but Gary is still in west Gulfport.
Hope to see all of you soon.
