Ecellent idea! How can we help each other if we don't know what help is needed? I know I won't mind spending my weekends swinging a hammer or a paint brush.
I received this from Juanita Newsome -
I will be moving back to the area as Katrina did me a good turn and made an old time friend into a fiance. Friendship is wonderful when it turns into love. We will be married March 25 and move to Woolmarket. What do you think of that? I want to have the reunion so everyone can meet my new love.
Peggy Sullivan sent this to me
Susan,
This is part of an e-mail I sent to out of state friends and relatives New Year's Day.
New Year's Eve
For those of you who have lived on the MS Gulf Coast, you have certainly driven on Highway 90 in Gulfport.
Try to imagine driving down Hwy 90 at night, it is only two lanes at present, and since there are no homes and almost no buildings, there are no lights. Even traffic lights do not exist. There are three way stops at Cowan Road, Teagarden, Courthouse, Hewes Avenue, Hwy 49, and Broad.
Now add the fog so typical of the area at this time of year.
This is four months and two days after Hurricane Katrina.
I made the drive to pick up Evy, one of the people living with me, from work..
On the way home, Evy didn't know where we were; I only knew because I kept track of the three way stops. I know Broad Street is the three way stop after the hotel that belonged to the Grand Casino. For some reason about seven lights were on in that building. It looked so eerie.
Just before you get to Hewes Avenue, there are three FEMA trailers next to the slabs of houses now gone. They had lights on. One was decorated for Christmas with a tree and a spot light on a sign that read,"HOPE, PEACE, and LOVE."
Keep us in your prayers; thank God for the blessings and strength He has given us.
Ask for His continued presence, guidance, and comfort.
